I just heard that a relative of mine (or was it a relative of a relative?) OD'd on meth today and is not expected to live. Actually from the sound of it he's probably dead already.

I never met the guy, but still  :-\

Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

I'm not usually one to follow celebrities. Except it's sad that being born intersex (a very real birth defect), will make you lose everything.

http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2015/12/22/michael-phelps-intersex-girlfriend-att

She was very pretty and successful. Basically she looks like a model in a lot of those video shots. She has an ear for languages (worked as an interpreter), but one whiff of her (inescapable, not blameworthy) medical history leaks and she's ruined. Meanwhile irony comes around when Phelps can get away with just about anything, including criminalized drug behavior and addictions and he'll be fine.

It raises the question, what on earth is somebody in her position supposed to do? Keeping in mind she was born with a physical deformity and isn't even trans, but rather intersex, and had ... [ahem] physical parts from both....

Christmas time, and I have no gifts for anyone and nothing to save me from the inevitable crushing guilt that will follow if someone gives me something. Also I have general money worries that seem impossible to solve except by either getting a job or borrowing money from family, neither of which is a pleasant thought.

If only it were so easy.

Also in unrelated puns I just-- wait. In unrelated sads I just made a pun that seems less brilliant than my usual puns. In fact it was rather forced and uninspiring. Perhaps I am drowsy and my pun gland is being sluggish, perhaps I'm just not in the mood for my usual comedic brilliance.
Whatever the case, the moment a pun fails to cheer me up is a sad moment indeed.

And those transphobic comments... which make no sense considering that she isn't even trans.

Just watched The Book of Life, and it was a really good movie. The main female lead, however, was paiiiinfully objectified. Basically the entire movie revolves around two men trying to win her heart. Every time she does something independent or tries to make a decision of her own, her father or some other guy jumps in front of her and stops her. I don't know, it was just cringeworthy to me.

Update: He's shown no sign of brain activity in more than 24 hours, doctors say there's nothing they can do. Sounds like it's up to the parents to determine whether to pull the plug or keep him on life support.
