If you listen to Powerman 5000 and are looking for metal avoid the album  Transform. It's more punk.

Tonight the Stars Revolt on the other hand is quite a good album. Used to play Starcraft listening to album.

Tonight the Stars Revolt is a great album.

Have you heard the new one?
It's back to their roots, and is really good.
My new favorite album by Powerman 5000.

What is underground acid rock?
... You don't know what underground acid rock is.

As a B12-er, I am deeply ashamed that I do not know the acidity of various rock types off the top of my head.

I do know, but I lack the understanding of it's ties to music.

What's with this music subtypes?
It's truly irrelevant. What matters is what you like.

Right now I'm listening to Lacuna Coil although my favourite band is Korn.

You don't have to actually know all the subgenres to know if a particular band is cool. Here's a simple rule of thumb: if a band has more fans than members, it's mainstream and thus not cool.

This man right here knows what he's talking about.  I couldn't care less about the troglodyticness or Ph balance or Vikingitude of a band, so long as their music has solid rhythms, or catchy lyrics, or a any number of other, y'know, musical features that I like hearing.

I don't know if its already been mentioned, but Opeth is pretty good. Blackwater Park is their best album.

Mastodon maybe?
