Also, Van Canto have gotten undeniably awesome lately now that they're doing some decent songs, that and the fact that watching an angry version of Roy Khan shout DUMDUMDUMRIDDLEDEDUMDUM into a microphone while pretending to be a guitar is absolutely priceless.


On an unrelated note; i've never been impressed with Metallica.

I don't dislike them, I just outgrew them. I still listen to them every now and then, but their solos lack technicality and also they lack enough !!keyboards!!. Which I love.

On a side note: KAMELOT WOOO

Also: Cormorant is just wow. I clicked that link and my jaw dropped. It was... wow.

I'll admit i don't listen to them often, but i've found when i'm doing textures putting Dragonforce on improves my quality of work; in that respect i actually like that all their songs sound the same, since it means i can just sit there for like 3 solid hours without any breaks in music to worry about.

Also, KAMELOT! WOOO!

If you want something light, you could try goth metal. It's not bad.

Actually Kamelot was already on my "currently listening to" list. :D

Charon's okay, but I haven't seen much of their stuff.

Powerman 5000... I've heard "When Worlds Collide", but it was in a flash animation one of my friends showed me. (I dunno why he thought I'd enjoy the flash, but I kinda did.)

Actually it's their non-blazing songs I enjoyed most. The goofy ballad-esque ones.

Cathedral - Doom metal from the UK. The guy who did their album covers totally wasn't on drugs...
Dream Theater - Good if you like great songs of decent length between huge wanky solos.

If you listen to Powerman 5000 and are looking for metal avoid the album  Transform. It's more punk.

Tonight the Stars Revolt on the other hand is quite a good album. Used to play Starcraft listening to album.
