I've got several Black Sabbath (and Ozzy) albums lying around, but I honestly haven't listened to them all that much.  Doesn't help that one of the albums is wonked heavily and can't even play...  Of course I've heard Paranoid before.  But that doesn't really say much.  I mean, everyone's heard that one at least once in their lives, right?

I'll make a point to listen to some of it.

Checking out Queensryche.  Interesting, very old school sound.  Old school hair, too...  Heh heh.

I don't want to get lynched, but I don't really care for Metallica's early stuff. Awesome band, but Hetfield's singing voice wasn't very well developed.

How about Disturbed? Inside the Fire is probably my favorite song by them.

Not only is it not actually advertising anything, it's just copy/pasting word salads about gold, runescape, oil, yuan, and handbags.  It's like a transporter accident combined all the spambots into one shambling mass of online sales.

Alright, this is a little strange...  I've been listening to Lateralus and Ænema ever since last night...  Seriously, just those two songs (every now and then I'd try out something new, but I kept coming back to them).

And in that time, I have come closer to grasping just how epically awesome Lateralus is.  I mean whoah.  Both the song and the album in general.

So while people I know post pictures in the "Tokio Hotel: the New Kings of Rock!" gallery on Facebook, I'm having my consciousness blown out of this world by Tool.

I'm trying desperately to listen to some of their other songs, but I keep coming back to Lateralus.  It's trapped me.  And boy, do I feel good.

EDIT:  Oh yeah, and now my mom listens to Tool.  How many people can claim that?

I can ^_^

Yeah, Tool is awesome.

If you like Lateralus, you might like some of the 10,000 Days album. Some of its a bit weird, but I like it alot. Also check out Undertow.

And thus I have exhausted my knowledge of Tool.

Hammers of Misfortune is an incredible progressive metal band, and only the first album has harsh vocals.  The lead singer takes some getting used to, he has an odd voice.

They might not be metal, but listen to Rush. Probably my favorite band of all time.

The best thing about Rush is that they never stuck to one musical style. Despite having existed for almost 40 years, they've never made an album that's tried to emulate the old days.

The more you listen to RUSH, the more you just go "Holy Shit!  These guys are baddass!".  It just gets better and better.  And to think its a trio!

Speaking of prog, ever heard Gentle Giant?
They represent the best and worst sides of prog. They were incredibly skilled at songwriting and musicianship without being wanky, and they had a sense of humour, but they could also argue for weeks over the tiniest minutiae of a song.

I'm not sure if Manticora has been mentioned, they're pretty obscure but they're incredible progressive metal.
