Dwarf RAW Edit?
« on: October 11, 2009, 08:45:32 am »

So I've heard you can edit the RAW of a dwarf to make them not need to eat/sleep/drink/Move Fast/etc. I'm trying to get a project done in DF and at the rate my Dwarves are going it's going to take a while. Anyone know how to (if you can) edit the RAWs?

I've looked at them myself and I'm not sure what to change...

Go to the creature_standard.txt and add the following tags under [CREATURE:DWARF]:
[NO_DRINK]
[NO_EAT]
[NO_SLEEP]
[SPEED:1]

There're more tags in the wiki: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Creature_tokens
and more info about cheating: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Cheating

Setting the raw speed to 0 would probably have hilarious results.

Anyway, OP, before you ask: the lower SPEED is, the faster the critter goes.

Thanks a bunch, and If I want to undo it I'm guessing all I do is delete those tags from the file?

Nope, at least not for me, I had the game running on a fortress already, and I simply restarted the game and it worked

As I understand it, adding/removing tags to existing entries works fine without a regen, but if you want to add/remove entire entries, then you'll need to start a new world.

Checke the top of the modding section.  There's a thread there that's been around for, oh, about a year now.

Now I don't expect someone new to know to go there.  But if you're handing out advice, it's good to try to stay up to date, especially seeing as how the game is in development.

Hmm... What other tags could I add to my dwarves?

I'm coming back to DF and I'd like to create a basic, functioning fortress as soon as possible.

Which leads me to my other question, can I just remove those tags when I'm done?  ???

Yes, removing it makes it back to normal.

Other tags if you're afraid of attackers (though your speed 0 will make sure you win most fights)

[NO_PAIN]
[NO_STUN]

change size, damblock to some large number

[NO_EXHAUST] if you want them to keep working forever

[NO_EMOTION] if you don't want them tantruming
