i dunno what is wrong, but for the last few forts ive made marksdorfs wont go collect more ammo... they have quivers, the ammo is very close and unforbidden, enemies are in sight but nothing... anyone know why?

If enemy is in sight, they won't reload. They'll consider themselves in the fight and thus will club the enemies with the crossbow.

On that note, DO they have crossbows or are they assigned unarmed? Check your <m>ilitary panel and assign them crossbows if you haven't.
Do you have crossbows made for them to use?

Also, if you're trying to get them to practice, make sure you have an archery target that's assigned at least 3 tiles of space (target, space, dwarf shooting) and that you have bone and wood bolts, since that's all dwarves use for practice (though they may use those against enemies, they'll prefer metal bolts if available).

Hmm, try setting the squad from chase opponents to stay near station. I've heard that this causes problems sometimes with marksdwarves.
