Gah!  I wish my computer could handle this site better!  Now I'm totally seeing the potential for carving/building gigantic faces into those peaks, like some Dwarven version of Mt. Rushmore.  >_<

The perfect place to put the tombs of your fallen kings, amirite?
Spoiler: pretty big image (click to show/hide)
I'm thinking Mount Rushmore.

And your miner would be a crazy cat hermit and instead of carving dwarven faces you'd have a catsplosion portrayed in the largest artifact engraving in dwarf-kind.

Its the lowest quality but its still getting mega points...

You can either bring the bauxite with you on embark, or trade for it. If you can't bring a suitable amount on embark and the caravans aren't either, I suppose you could make the melting/boiling point for microcline or something the same as bauxite.

Or download Molten Rocks.  It has real temperature values for the stones, and simply adds in something that Toady hasn't had time to do yet.  Not a cheat mod, but a completion mod.

Plus, it's easier than doing it yourself.

I can see it now, a mountain carved with the faces of Urist, Morul, Ironblood, and Cacame.

The only problem is, it would be 3 generic dwarf heads and one generic elf head. Sigh.

Just genned and embarked this map and i have to say that mountain is quite posibly the steepest i have seen. I have decided to move everything to the bottom of the mountain. Im digging into the side of the mountain and planning on creating an outer fort for future defense.

I'm thinking Mount Rushmore.

But does Mount Rushmore have magma, blood, and/or kittens flowing out of the eyes and mouths?

Apparently having a redundant creature entry causes the game to say, "Oh, look, it's crazy world now. Nothing makes sense! Alligators live in houses!"

Just genned the world, been looking for something like this for some time. Expanded my Region to 5x7 so I have the Pipe just above the middle, thus making my plans easier due to Embark practice...

Then move to the Civ List and in passing I noticed a flash of words instead of red -------. ELVES ARE AT WAR with the Civ that was up to (Randomized the Names and History) If this Civ don't trade bauxite I will not be happy. I never initiate war with anything, so this will be a test. If only GCS spawned...

Someone should make a bridge network to each of the spires so no one can get to the forts in them.

Is it just me or would the hole above the magma be a great place to build a giant statue?
