It was a one-shotter, so I figured I'd save it to inspect someone I felt suspicious about rather than firing at random.  Lesson learned, I guess.

You mean once per day? Sorta nerfs the doctor if he can only protect one person for his entire game.

Oh, it's one per Night (or day if I slip in day versions).

i.e. If you're a parallel doc, you can protect, each night, a person in game A or B (but not one in each).

You aren't the only one to think it was one shot though, so it's ok.

Also, I realize I needed to post the order of events.  It goes

Normally, Investigations come after Kill, letting the cop know what they learned but dying before they can speak.  i switched it since the multiworld aspect subverts that event. 

So, in truth, even if you had investigated, the kill would've taken it away anyway.
