Oh come on, a fish CANNOT do that...

So I embarked on a giant river with a breeding pair of giant cave spiders (used tweak to afford them) and a pair of carp pulled a GIANT CAVE SPIDER into the water to kill it. I am now damming the river to let all the carp air drown.
What are your terrible/horrifying experiences with carp?

Ah carp. It's like a signature of DF being DF.

I say that Toady should make Elephants insane again for the upcoming release.

What do you mean "a fish cannot do that?" You have obviously not experienced the true horror which is a DF fish.

Actually the GCS would have dodged into the river, but otherwise yes.

Also I have found several maps I've genned have like 17-50 carp for the giant entire world....
Dwarves being removed from their food-chain really bites their numbers...

Hmm.

I had an experience with Carp.  And hippos.  Oh god it was horrible.

I tried to do a river edge micro island once on a freshwater lake. I did a 2x2 embark. I noticed some fish in the lake when I did the Z-level check. So I pressed U to see what kind.


on a 2x2 embark I had 5 pages of CARP, and one (not one page, just one fish) salmon.

my dorfs didn't take the news well.

It sounds possible. Spiders can't swim, it must've fallen in, or was dodging a carp, fell into the water, and the fish had a meal banquet.

Ah fish, Nothing like your lone hunter and his three hunting dogs all dieing within a manner of seconds due to a long nose gar.  Tsk.  I've debating flooring over rivers many a time.

Also: this is why you put al of your animals you NEED into a cage untill you have a decent meeting area set up.  So they dont roam around and cause mahem.

Yeah... for reference, even Yogg-Saron, an elder god who probably once killed several dozen god like beings known as the Titans on Azeroth before they sealed him away, is scared of Carp also.
