That sounds dangerously like common sense, do I need to get my heretic burning stake out again?
P.S.
On a more serious note, meeting the hobgoblins and not getting enslaved, dissected, or kept as pets/trophies would be difficult. Getting them to change their minds would also be tough, orcs can generally be distracted or confused, but if a hobgoblin has orders to execute the women and children... I think that the only was to make peaceful contact with the hobgoblins would be to submit ourselves to the standard protocols for unidentified aliens...

I think the hobgoblins have demonstrated that they are not willing to befriend anything human-like. Not to mention, they'll be on the lookout for us now, since the report will probably say that a bunch of humans were spotted. Not many humans are left to mix us up with.

The orcs are our best bet; we might be able to get accepted as honorary tribe members.

It sounds dangerously like you're assuming that i give a wooden nickle about alignment.

Lol. Neruz does have a point. Alignment means nothing really significant to him. The plot wouldn't be stopped by something so flimsy as alignment.

I've always found alignment far too ridged anyway.

Presuming you mean "out OF alignment", I've generally played within my Neutral Good boundaries this whole time... "Do adventury stuff, if it comes to a moral dilemma, remember that good>rules and me>mooks." After all, I'm much more capable of helping people than, say, that squad of hobgobbie archers, since I'm more inclined to not kill everything. Also I have the growth rate of a PC.

And I may be conflicted about which side to take, but probably not, I have been completely gutless so far...

Gutless? You went up and talked to trolls. That's either very gutsy or stupid. Though based on previous actions, I am inclined to say stupid...

Hey Neruz, ye got any experience with legacy weapons? Been trying to figure out a name and omen for it. Its for the cleric/druid character of light I mentioned last game. My character is making it as she goes so the first ritual is having to do with defending a village or something along those lines. Heres the stats.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
And heres the sheet so you've an idea of what my character is like.
