Have you get 3 tiny weapons from one bar, and only 1 awesome weapon

I don't think you can get multiple weapons from one bar, even though they're MATERIAL_SIZE:1. It only really affects making them out of adamantine.
And it sounds neat, but not quite what I'm going for in this mod.

Anyway. 1.03 is out. I just added toys and instruments, really.
Cats use drums and harps, as well as horns and rattles. Toys are commemorating everything cats most value: toy mouse (sadly, couldn't force it to be made out of leather - no chew toys), toy cat soldiers, and a set of collectible figurines for a cat family. Comes in mother, father, kitten, twins, and triplet varieties. Collect them all!

What does cat equipment look like? Do they wear boots on their back feet and gloves on their front feet? Or do they still [GRASP] with their mouths and equip gloves/carry weapons on their mouths?

Is it possible to mod armor for non-regular body parts? Tail armor on a cat, or, say, wing armor on a flying creature.

Cats should get claw weapons. You know, nerd-trying-to-be-Wolverine claws. :)

As far as I know, non-regular body parts can't really have custom armor - gloves go on any part with GRASP, boots on any with STANCE. Theoretically, perhaps cats would wear gloves on their mouths? Which is why they don't have any.
They do GRASP with their mouths and not with their feet. No shields, no two-handed weapons (in fact, someone bugged the game by trying to assign cats to 2-weaponing.)

Claws might be kinda cool, but they'd have to carry them in their mouths, which would be kinda weird. Some kind of sharp teeth, a GORE weapon replacing clubs or hammers, maybe? It's a possibility. But, on the other hand, that's what wrestlers are for.

ANYWAY. I think 1.03 marks the point where I'm ready to do a succession fort. I'm thinking that since the cat caravan doesn't show up until winter, and migrants don't until spring, the turns would hand off at autumn. So I'll do 1.5 years and hand it to the next woebegone soul.
Incidentally, I only recently realized just how important it is to have a LOT of military. In my test fort, my entire military of 6 wrestlers and one markscat (and a woodcutter/chopper) was wiped out by a single ambushing goblin party. Of course, they had no better than leather armor, but still. That's fast. I don't even recall if they killed more than one who got separated.

The first time I tried to hold off a goblin ambush, I sent my three wrestling champions against them and lost them all in the process of revealing them. I had the rest of my military hide in towers and shoot them until they left.

They are twice as big, if I recall correctly...

It's kind of odd that they can adopt cats and dogs as pets (though I don't think you can do much about this can you?).

Why? Is it kind of odd that people can have monkeys as pets?

I can see cats keeping dogs, but not keeping cats. That would be more like humans keeping other humans, not monkeys.

No no no ... these are no longer cats (felix catus) ... they are on "higher" evolutionary state, they are Cats (felix sapiens)

So Cats having cats for pets is like we having australopithecus or neanderthal

Yeah, they really don't give a crap about their lesser cousins. Cats are bastards.

So, question: Succession or community fort? Could be fun either way.

Succession, IMO. Give everyone a chance to make their own cat-themed map features.

Sensible, and what I was probably going to do anyway.

If there are no strident and persuasive counterarguments, I'll start the succession fort sometime later today. There will be naked mole dog rape.
