I hate to burst the bubble, but aren't American judges (that have any real influence) appointed, rather than elected?

Supreme Court justices are appointed by the President.
Not sure that state/city judges are. All I know is that I never voted for them.  :P

Exactly.  Lesser judges mostly deal with local stuff, and if they doing anything as controversial as changing the way crime is dealt with, they need the Supreme court to agree with them to do it.  Generally, the current guys have a bit of an ego, from what I've seen . . . they may not take too kindly to that.

But yeah.  Stupid shit happens that shouldn't happen.  Now it's happened to one of this forum's major people.

All hell will break loose.  Maybe.

On the back of your ticket, which you received so long ago, it simply stated you had 15 days to pay or plead out and await a trial.  No notice is ever sent you after receiving a ticket.  The ticket was your notice.

If you want to flee to canada, western ontario is very similar to a DF low mountainous area. Bring 6 buddies, some pickaxes, some axes, and plenty of food/booze, and an anvil, and you are all set. The climate is temperate, with extremes of temperature, but it should be perfectly fine indoors if you arrive early spring and start digging immediately. Plenty of fish and wildlife, too, and few nearby towns that would send an army.
