Question: Why are Black Templars important? All I know of them is that they are a moving horde of Space Marines and can recruit as many Space Marines as they desire, thereby becoming the Imperial Guard of Space Marines. Doesn't sound really impressive, actually.

Think about it for a moment; Space Marines are rediculously overpowered but few in number. The IG are kind of pansy (although their wheels rock) but many in number.

Therefore an Imperial Guard of Space Marines would be rediculously overpowered with awesome wheels and many in number, thus being the single most rediculously overpowered race in the entire game.

And its not just the obviousness of it all, seeing as how most of all six thousand of the "giant mob" as you uneducated lot would call it, are spread about the entire galactic plane, not just a single Segmentum, unlike SOME CHAPTERS I CAN THINK OF. They aren't a giant horde of marines. Their numbers simply allow them to hold down multiple full scale Crusades.

The general badassery of the Black Templars comes from fiction and background.

Take away both and their just a giant chapter with a perceived Melee specialty, and I'd probably be fawning over the Salamanders or Iron Warriors.

Generally, don't try and argue with a Black Templar player's logic.

I don't know about you guys but I think the Dark Angels are pretty awesome.

I would totally get an actual tabletop army of them.

I think all things considered i'd probably go with either Purple Pauldrons, or if i didn't have the time or will to customise an entire army, Blood Angels. That way i can have them drop in from the Litany of Litany's Litany, which is the best Battle Barge name ever.
