There's a shit load of wood, an underground pool with little to no inhabitants, AND the area is so insane savage/evil the first teast run I did, had 3 undead harpies and a pack of 7 beak dogs not 3 tiles from my caravan, talk about insta slaughter. 
There's a huge amount of platinum/magnetite right beside the embark, and the minimum embark is 4x4.  The HFS pit also has magma in it, but I doubt that anyone will be able to breach, clear and use it before times up.   Then again the opens up alot of bonus awards, like most tough inhabitant kills, fastest to clear the underground pool, person to survive the pits, ect.  I think it's pretty damn good.   No sand though, does have sedimentary layer, so lots of iron ores/gems, but lacks large amounts of flux, is right beside a 2 goblin towers, and has access to all civs, though the dwarves are a ways away.  Use this site for file hosting btw:

I love it. If you pop a link with the map and search parameters, we can start. Here is a supplementary page for keeping track of awards, posting your progress, etc.

Just edit in your values as you find the time, and we will be able to keep track of who is in the lead in every category! 5 years still sound fine to everyone?

Mine was a bust, 2 freaking undead gophers all it had to offer for "terrifying!".

If the start is almost literally impossible (depending on luck and not skill, an instant slaughterfest) should we allow people to reroll unitl they reach Summer? Once you reach summer, no more do-overs? I would be disappointed if we started and only 2 or 3 people made it far enough to compete.

Looking for players to start individually in an evil, savage tiny area and compare forts after 5 years. Good old fashioned stuff. If you die too quickly, Oops.

No maximum # of players. Will give out seed etc when we are ready to start.

Awards for:
Sheer Style
Smiter: Evil population control (bonus if you somehow manage to attract and kill a mega in this time period, bonus for style such as outdoor flooding traps, balista chutes, etc)
"Noble Aspirations": Have the largest and best-satisfied nobility, with style!
MegaConstruction
Merchantilism: Most Wealth
Popularity: Population count minus dead
North Korea: self-destruct switch, taking out the enemies with you!
Military: pretty self-explanatory. Kill, up close and personal! traps are for cowards!
Defender of the Peace: Don't allow merchants to die (will be damn near impossible, i know) or provoke war with human/elven civs
Ronald McDonald: Food/farming
Woody Allen: Wood-related production (with an unsafe surface? good luck!)

Oh, and your fortress has to SURVIVE to win awards. If you're sitting on 17 insane elves and a wealth of 3mil at the end, I doubt anyone's going to consider you a winner.
