A link to the main page, where you can find links to all the related pages. They are under Status as I'm typing this but they'll be moved in a moment.  It's coming together pretty dang quickly, with Briess cleaning up behind me. He's sub-categorizing us in Bloodline with a dozen or so archived games on the wiki, until this moves along a little. confuses the heck out of me but the coding isn't all that hard to follow after a  bit.

We will be relying on this forum pretty heavily because of the wiki's short learning curve for communication. It's likely to turn some people off before they know what's up. So let's get down to business! If anyone would propose a safe fileshare site to start our first few games that would be great.

New game, bloodline succession, vanilla DF.   Any suggestions on what sort of map I should find?

MegaUpload (I think thats what Its called I'll have to look it up) Was what I used to use for things that required a bit of space, Though the file (shouldnt) be that big (as long as you dont have any mod req's, In wich case suggesting just shipping game as a whole) in wich case you could use any number of localized upload points.  I miss when googlepages was freejoin.  Was the easiest learning curve i knew of.

Meanwhile Kilakan, Depends on your situation/rules.  If its going to be a 'difficult' 'survival' map try one with few trees no river no aquifier and an under-ground river/pool. Meaning they first have to dig down find the river/pool and kill everything there before they can get water and wood.   

Most people prefer starting with magma (somewhere) on the map. Wich is something to consider but Like I said build a map around the game variant you wish to play.

Yea, this is the most convenient discussion area. I hope newcomers can still find the info they need here, if not we may need a new Recruitment thread. The wiki is just a little too inconvenient to use as a forum, but it will remain highly organized unlike anything we do here.

As far as our new survival game, it has its own thread linked from its wiki page (Games>Active Games>Survival section), and Kilakin has found an absolutely stellar map for it. Definitely worth checking out.

Yes! It all comes together. Actually, I was wondering what we could do to get Toady to endorse this thread, perhaps provide a permanent link for us in an appropriate place. However, after some comments Briess said about letting this "pan out" I've been thinking that we may do better to get it well underway before we look for endorsement. On the other hand, it's a community thing so do as you like!

Sure, if you want to provide the place and we keep it backed up /archived then any static forum would be great. Let's see what the admin here offer us, and go from there?

What we need is a league forum as well. It would allow for league started/endorsed games/contests or better communications between members. Here is my suggestion on a host: http://www.takeforum.com/

The only problem I see with a league forum is it would in a way isolate ourselves from the main bay12 community, which IMO we should avoid.
