Hey, it looks like all our worrying about Swine Flu was for naught, as we already have it solved.

Will it just transform into a new strain like normal flu though? Ready to tackle us next year?

I'm still scared of swine flu. Most people really arn't concerned because we're only just starting to get into flu season. The main thing that worries me about swine flu is that it kills relatively fast for a flu virus. Humans have no natural immunity to it, or at least the vast majority don't. And it also seems to attack only healthy middle aged people.

Here's hoping it won't get as bad as normal flu.

I knew about vaccine being a hoax that's going to kill milions when I read Icke's article.
I am NEVER taking the vaccine! EVER!
I'd rather die to contaging the virus from a random person than take the vaccine!

Really?  The vaccine approval process is by any standards draconian.  Before believing such a controversial claim I'd like to see at least a few peer previewed articles with double blind random studies proving this. 

There have been many claims about the danger of vaccines, which have all so far been utterly disproven.  For example, an article published in the Lancet about a link between MMR and autism by Wakefield was later proven to be fraudulent.  Wakefield subsequently lost his UK medical licence.

You shouldn't be too worried, swine flu is (according to an australian study) less lethal than normal flu, although it's true that it has a stronger tendency to affect younger people. 

Cool fact:  The Flu pandemic of 1918 had the same surface receptors H1N1 as the swine flu of today, and it killed more than 30 millions (more than ww1).  Luckily, the new H1N1 is different in other ways and is therefore less virulent.

It's definately a good idea to get the vaccine if you're elderly or have a compromised immune system, since it can often be deadly to these people.

Is it such a bad thing that we don't let the whole flu season stuff fall from our minds? No. Because if it wasn't for the media these things that kill, on average, 12000 people in the UK every year people just wouldn't care one bit.

The whole coverage on swine flu may seem a bit OTT, but overall its good to know that it'll reach out to peple to be a little more hygenic.
