I just heard that Americans don't use kettles...

Why not? They're the best thing ever for heating up water...

Hey, I don't know about anyone else here but I use one. And given that I eat mostly noodles I use it every day.

How do you exist without kettles?
Do you have to boil the water in a pan before putting it in the pot?

Well, microwaving is faster, especially if you only want one cup of tea.

Well, microwaving is faster, especially if you only want one cup of tea.
I'm mostly talking about energy efficiency, kettles are too slow to win the speed battle.

Who gives a damn about energy efficiency?  How about my convenience efficiency where I can just microwave a bowl of water and put ramen in it instead of messing with some extra container.  And if I'm cooking something in a pot or pan anyway, I just heat the water I'll need in that.  Weirdos.

You Americans need to drink more tea, then you'd get it. You shouldn't have dumped it all into Boston Harbour. I mean, some people prefer coffee but that was a step too far.
