Windows 7 is horrid for a few reasons.

The built in notepad which I can't find a way to replace doesn't support Unix line breaks, BUT WINDOWS XP'S DID. Seriously, the fuck? That's removing competition. This means I can't manage my todo list cross platform.

Windows Live doesn't let me switch between recording devices, so I can't play a 2 second clip from my goddamn music collection to prove a point. It is bullshit.

Even though Linux is now a viable desktop operating system, unlike when XP was released, Windows 7 insists on overwriting my GRUB bootloader. Seriously, I thought now that you and Novell had an agreement that you're obviously going to use wrongly, you'd do something about this.

It's bullshit. Windows is still a product infested with bad things. I'm using this as point to show ow Microsoft is still 'evil'. I'd list the good things about Windows 7 but it'd be too many.

75% of your complains would only effect 5% of the market...

That's right, Microsoft shouldn't care about the 5% of the market.

If that was their biggest problem, they probably would.

That's like saying you shouldn't make games for a mac because only 5% of people who play your game have a mac and dualboot into Windows to play it.

Any percent should matter and considering how many people use Windows, 5% is in the thousands.

Perhaps, but the 5% comment is a very, very generous number. that's just taking from what i think i heard someone say before (linux has 5% of the market). now, i didn't factor in the fact that most linux users probably don't dual boot a windows PC anyway, or if they did, probably wouldn't want buy windows 7 to do it. so its probably more like less than 1%. but anyway...

So you're saying that Microsoft should spend money and time catering to a tiny slice of the market, which just happens to have a vendetta against them?

These people hate us and think we're evil, moneygrubbing monsters because we care about making a profit, let's give them special features only they will use.  They'll still hate us, but maybe it'll help appease our conscience after the unforgivable sin of making money.

That's not what I'm implying. They took features OUT of their programs. Win7 and WinXP both don't support GRUB, but Windows XP  supported the Windows Live feature and Unix line breaks.

Windows XP had treeview lines and toolbars that can be combined into a sinlge bar at the top of the Window... Windows 7 has no treeview lines (not even as an option like Vista) and the Address Bar / "Organize" bar cannot be combined in any way shape or form with the menu bar.  Wasted vertical screen space in an already horizontal screen world.  I won't even mention how the status bar is like 3 times the size of the old one... oh wait.  I did.
