[40.d] Game crashes while saving

The only thing I can think of that might be causing this is the fact that I usually have Dwarf Manager open when I save. I (manually) save every 30 to 45 minutes, precisely in case something like this happens, but still, it gets tiresome having to do things I've already done over again.

I've also turned sound and the intro off in the init.txt file, and lowered the population cap to 100, but I don't think those are related. Besides, this doesn't happen every time.

Does it crash if you don't use Dwarf Manager?

What OS are you using, and where is the game installed?

I'm running Windows XP, and I have it installed on an external hard drive, though I've had it installed there for a few months and this has just cropped up recently. Yes, it crashes even if Dwarf Manager isn't open when I save.

I meant, does it crash if you don't use DM at all?  Also, is it confined to a single save, or does it happen in a new game too?

Also, anything in your errorlog.txt?
