Creating Slang Terms
« on: October 04, 2009, 09:49:40 pm »

My friends and I have created a rather large amount of slang terms that, when used outside our specific group, go completely misunderstood or unnoticed. We only have about 4 or 5 that are used frequently but I found myslef wondering, "Do other people have terms they use for the sheer fun of having their own slang terms?"

I'll give some examples:

Boo-ya-ko-sha(pronounced "Boo-yah-koh-shaw"): This is a term for a comlpete and all out attack that destroys everything in it's path. I coined this one and it became my catchphrase.

Happy-ass: A term meaning "performing and action with a complete disregard for other people's enjoyment or well-being."Often used while playing Call of Duty 4, when a guy comes around a corner and fires his gun like none of his allies could be there.

Kojillion(pronounced "Koh-jill-yon"): A number so large it is unexpressable in a form humans can understand.

Cheaty-face: A term we borrowed from a Magic: the Gathering card of the same name, meaning a guy who does something that is obviously intended to ruin someone else's fun or exploit a glitch/loophole/bug in a video game/board game/ card game. I coined this one while playing "UFC Unleashed 2009".

Crotch-sploded: A term we use when someone takes an incredibly painful shot to the groin.

Douch-baggary: The art of being a Douche-bag. I use the word "art" because it takes too much work to be a douche bag to just be one. It takes an intended effort. I coined this one when a friend was being a bit of a Douche-bag to a girl I knew.

"Pulling a Ben": pulling a sudden victory or success out of your ass at an almost alarming rate or frequency. This was coined by my friend after I destroyed him and two other friends in a few games of gears. Named after me.

I was wondering if anybody had any terms they use that most others wouldn't know that they use and would like to share.

BTW- If you would like a better explaination of the words I gave, just ask. I enjoying spreading our lingo around.

I prefer to make mine sound like obscure technical terms rather than slang, and usualy are abaut either something I invented, such as internal to a game, I also tend to internally use terms I invented myself for some philosophical and psychological concepts.

Dude...that's been commonplace for as long as "Douchebag" has.

And Then it Started to Rain: Whenever somebody starts making a list of the bad things that happened to them that day, add this to the end.

Awkward Turtle: Makes awkward situations even more awkward!

And then assorted crap from a certain college production...

This one isn't even that fake.  There was this vaguely popular song back in the 1960's called "Patches", featuring the line "And then one day, a strong rain came, and washed all the crops away."  My father and his friends (and me as well) loved to append this to anyone's meandering tale of bellyaching; especially good if someone else backs up with harmonica accompaniment.

In this case, somebodies bad day DID end with rain, and after the person finished bellyaching over dinner I quipped "...And then it started to rain." And for some reason everybody broke out in a fit of giggles. I suppose they are all fans of that song and never let me hear it.

Also, I really need to learn to play the harmonica just to do that.

I've heard Awkward Turtle here, I think it's from something published.

At my school, we've started using 'Indubitably!' a lot, which isn't really slang but...
