But, once again, can we please stop with the unsolicited America bashing in every thread?  I'm talking to you Dwarf.  You don't think we have a culture only because our movies and television have dominated yours.
I didn't mean to bash it, just told what I think is the explanation...
Exactly what I mean.  Throwing out a reflexive experienceless criticism like it's a known fact.  That's bashing.

Wait.

France and Germany into one Staat?

Not going to end good. No way. (Unless Angela Merkel becomes the Chancellor-for-Life, and married Sarkozy, lulz)

Meh, France-Germany and France-England are no problem. EU plans to extend over all of ex-Yugoslavia eventually. Now that *is* a problem, unless they have some legendary cat-herders.

Well, okay, they haven't been good friends in the past, especially around... say, 1914-1945. But someday we need to stop thinking about the World War crap, it's not like everybody over here detests Germany, grass has partially grown over the affair, if you know what I mean.

Heh, yeah, I find it a bit hard to see the EU as a single entity. Everyone's a bit too headstrong. Europe has similar culture, but vastly different languages, backgrounds, identities. And a lot of them are still very powerful. A single EU superpower is about as likely as California being its own country XD

Then again, if someone managed to put the whole British isles under the same rule, anything is possible.

Hell, it's underestimated, but the Scots are becoming a quite nationalistic bunch. Getting all fancy with their 'I'm proud to be a Scot, go f*** your queen in the a** you damn british pig'

Becoming?! It's never been different! Same goes for the Welsh (but noone notices cause they're not as loud), and the northern Irish (which everyone noticed because they actually used bombs). And yet Britain as a country persists. Separationist forces are abundant in almost every country.
In the Netherlands, everyone wants to get rid of Limburg. In France and Spain, the Basks want their own country, Spain also has the Catalans who don't really want to belong, Corsica and Sicily have separationist movements, northern Italy has a strong one, the Balkan is so separationist that countries come and go every year, northern Greece has them, they're everywhere. Only in Germany everyone's quiet. Well, except for the anarchists.

Which brings me to another one. Currently the EU is not a state. The EU member states, however, are states. And even within those smaller states people are willing to kill to gain sovereignty. Or power. Or chicks, or whatever.

To show how far we still are from a real superstate, I'd like to present to you:

[cue echo]TERRORISTS ATTACK IN THE EU![/echo]

Edit on the terrorist thing: Yeah, I now see. I really don't see how such a tiny minority could be such a massive influence in keeping the EU states seperate.

I have no doubt that we'll become one country eventually. But that'll take a very very long time. Unless something really big goes down it'll stay like this for some time. Maybe the space race will further our rush to become one big state thing...

But then again, all big countrys start somewhere. And I think the Lisbon treaty is that somewhere for the EU.

Edit: @cowofdoom; ah, seems i forgot to add my arguement there... Apologise, I would never normally finish a point like that. It was quite late last night when i was writing the post. Makes me seem a bit stoopid.

Terrorist attacks meaning what? That could be anything from stealing a purse to bank robbery.
No, neither of those and nothing in between is an act of terrorism. Those are simply crimes.
Also: "Politically motivated violent acts and other crimes committed, for instance, by right-wing or animal rights extremists are thus not included in the TE-SAT data collection"

What counts is bombings, arson, etc, the vast majority of which is aimed at material damage, and a small percentage at injury or death.

Wait wait wait.  Why would politically motivated violent acts by right-wing extremists not be counted as terrorist attacks?  What's the logic behind that, neo-Nazis can't be terrorists?
