Aqizzar: It's not so difficult to understand. They're essentially becoming the same thing as the US. It's not a stretch to call the EU the USE. They just did it without a war, which is quite remarkable. It's really something really incredible, to see so many countries give up a large portion of their sovereignty to unite under one banner.

Im pro european integration (relativly rare in my country)

Actually, I wouldn't mind having Tony Blair at the head of the EU.  Why?

1. The job confers pretty much 0 power.
2. It keeps him from doing damage anywhere else.
3. If all he's going to be is basically a glorified envoy, it wouldn't be too bad to have someone who can meet people and pretend to like them well.

Well, you need it if you have no actual power.

I don't really mind the EU president being Tony Blair. He's Scottish, so basically scots are now going to rule everything. yey for us!

Anyway, Tony Blair isn't such a bad guy, he's been a fairly good head of state. He brought in some good stuff in 1997 when he became Prime minister.

But yeah, I never thought of it in the way Umi said. Its fairly remarkable that we've gotten together without war and decided this.

But yeah, my vote goes to Pro EU super state.

We were always at war with Eastasia, we have never been at war with Eurasia. Oceania is doubleplusgood.

How can Nato and the EU go to war?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I fear for nuclear war. At some point in time, some idiot will realize that only two countries have enough nukes to kill everyone. Cribbed from Wikipedia:

Country    Warheads active/total*    Year of first test
Five nuclear weapons states from the NPT
United States    2,623 / 9,400[12]    1945 ("Trinity")
Russia (former Soviet Union)    4,840 / 13,000[12]    1949 ("RDS-1")
United Kingdom    <160 / 185[12]    1952 ("Hurricane")
France    ~300 / 300[12]    1960 ("Gerboise Bleue")
China    ~180 / 240[12]    1964 ("596")
Non-NPT nuclear powers
India    n.a. / 60-80[12]    1974 ("Smiling Buddha")
Pakistan    n.a. / 70-90[12]    1998 ("Chagai-I")
North Korea    n.a. / <10[12]    2006 (2006 test)
States accused of having nuclear weapons
Israel    n.a. / 80[12]    unknown or 1979 (See Vela Incident)

What happens when Chinese neocolonialism gets over powerful?
Really, what happens if any Security council country gets a colonial twinge?
At some point, stuff will have deteriorated (as armies always do in peacetime) to the point where a prepared country can stomp an unprepared one (Franco-Prussian War anyone?). Maybe Global Trade will keep us together, but I'm not to sure.

bring back the stasi  ;)

The UK probably has the most police state laws in europe, and largely thanks to Tony.

The police can arrest anyone with out evidence and hold them for 30 days(i think its 30) with out trial. The only prequesite is they must be linked to terrorism. So if your foriegn (in any way) religious (in any ways) or happend ot mention the word bomb either electronically or in a public place you could be arrested.

im exhadurating quite a bit, but the Uk Terrorism act is a police state law, and it can easily be abused. It was used to claim Icelandic banking assets when their economy crashed.
