War of the Old Worlds

War of the Old Worlds is a game using ascii draw where you can control a mercenary army. Doing good, bad or some shade of grey. I will be you GM and I await your input. This game is very close to starting!

I was going to do one mercenary army with player officers and general but if you want more armies I guess I can do that.

Yes, but humans who fight back are somewhat harder to kill then use necromancy.

So are we going with one army or mutiple? I pefer 1 as its easier to keep track but if you all want more than i'll work harder.

I just finished playing Fantasy General, a fantasy themed Panzer General type game, I thought something like that could be parlayed into a forum game. This looks like it could be good.

I say 1 army just to start. Once the game gets the bugs ironed out, you can expand.

For suggestions, how about

-Mass Spell casting? Either hero or general with the ability to cast spells, or units that can cast a specific spell?

-Lots of variable races/customization of units . Kobold phalanx?, Troll knights in plate mail etc.

-Can we have skirmisher units? They would essentially be light, fast infantry who could attack normal infantry without retaliation, but could obliviously get flattened in a straight up fight. In RL they were useful for damaging enemy organization before battle, scouting, ambushing etc.

-FG had fantasy style air combat, with flying units like war eagles and bombardiers that could both attack ground units with varying success. But that would another level of crazy lol!

Thats a good Idea. I will start off with one army.

We could have Wizard heros or Small units of Wizards but we would need a system so they dont own everything.

Thats also a good idea. I guess it would be easy makking bonuses and negatives for each race. I was going to do customization and maybe even units gaining exp?

Yeah, I think skirmishers would be cool. Giving them a bow and sword, shooting randomly from bushes, ambushing. I think Kobolds would be great for this.

I that would be too hard for the start. Mabye once we are moving.
 
 
I'm going to start making the map with ascii draw. Might take a while.

If you mean yourself yeah you get to chose what you excel at.
