Then it seems my Chaotic Evil Half-Elven Wizard will be somewhat at odds with the party. And until further notice, that one guy that suggested he could is our most likely DM, unless Rooster steps up and the other guy wants to step down.

Whoever the DM is, I'd suggest you get to work on a campaign. Everyone else, I'd suggest getting to work on characters.

That one guy? Is that me? I'm starting to get excited about the prospect so I think I'll just go ahead and actually commit to DMing a campaign. Rooster didn't sound like he really wanted to, and if he does there's more than enough players to go around. It's been 5 years since I've even played though, so no quality assurance on this campaign. Let's just see what happens.

But before you guys can start genning characters I have to figure out who's playing, what character creation rules we'll be using and what will be allowed in the "Dwarf Fortress" setting. Which might take me a little while. And then I'd have to figure out what programs we're using, when we can play, start designing the campaign...so you guys should cool your jets a bit  ::)

Should we have non-DF races? Halflings and Half-Orcs, I mean. Or should Goblins and Kobolds be playable for full dwarfiness? Other than that I'd stick to the core 3.5 stuff. Maybe even disallow some prestige classes, since they're so goddamn unbalanced most of the time.

The books like to make gender-neutral pronouns female for some reason.  Paladins can be male, and dwarf paladins aren't really that rare.

The way the pages were written were based on the character used as an example in the Players Handbook. AKA Don't worry about it.

EDIT: Someone needs to list who's being what in a single post. :\

Yes, I was speaking to you. Glad to see you're excited. I cannot speak for everyone, but frankly I'd prefer a more generic fantasy than a DF-centered one, as that pretty much removes all magical elements. As the DM, it's your choice, however.

And second, I suggest we all use  this to gen characters, as I've used it before to great effect.

I don't like character generators, primarily because the format is all wrong. Anyway. How much gold do we get? What level are we?

My D&D thread on around page six or seven of the forum games and roleplaying section has rules for DF, you can use them if you want.

All you need to do to sort out the format is have patience, and not just c&p.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

If we do not use a generator, what should we use?

An empty character sheet. :|

EDIT: There's Character Tool. It's crappy, though, I haven't upgraded to the most recent version, so I'm not really sure.
Myth-Weavers is my personal favorite. You have to register to be able to use the sheets.

Oh, DF based wouldn't mean strictly the way Dwarf Fortress is currently. Stuff like druids and magic just aren't in DF yet, so they'd be included under regular D&D rules. Also, making it DF based saves me a lot of thought researching/inventing a campaign setting  :P

Fucked if I know! I'm still figuring all this out.

I'm up for it, I'll start on trying to figure out what kind of char I want.

edit: oaky using that javascrip thing and some original 3d6 format for the stats I came up with this guy.

I don't know what campain setting we are doing but I figured I'd just toss this out to see if I'm doing it right.

An empty character sheet. :|

And what if we don't have one, our printers are out of ink, and our KNEES ARE BROKEN, ELIMINATING THE POSSIBILITY OF GETTING TO THE PRINTED ITEMS?

How does the character generation program work?  What kind of array are we using?

If we're playing online, then you wouldn't need to print anything.

Anyway, I'm definitely going kobold fighter.
