Homebrew or SRD? I'm confused as to what is commonly used, and the wiki specifies between these two distinctly.
Hmm, so many races to choose from.  I'm probably going to have to go on awesomeness rather than actual merit.

Hmm...

Wow, DnD wiki sure is weird.  I'll probably end up going for a class and race that can take a punch and lash out well.

I believe homebrew refers to "made-up" rules/classes/etc. I wouldn't use any of these. Otherwise we'd have shit like Anime Girl Dwarves. No. Just no.

Is this going to be a play-by-post or is it going to be on a virtual tabletop? If it's the tabletop, I can't go on fridays. I have another game then.

I'm still looking into all that. I should probably stop talking like I've committed to doing this eh...

Darnit, spent too much time looking at metal bands and didn't notice this thread came up.

I could be a player if we don't already have too many.

As I'm looking, Jack_Bread, from the classes alone it seems to not be D&D at all, almost a fanfic of it. Unless it's a majority for Homebrew I'd suggest we stick with SRD.

Yeah, I might've been joking ;).

As for real (are the SRD classes real?  Or am I still looking at the wrong section) class, I may have to go for Soul Knife.  The only reason is because the name sounds awesome.

Those are, to my knowledge, the real classes.

Considering I've only ever been warriors and paladins, I think I'll be making a wizard for a change of pace.

SRD, we don't really have a reason to use homebrew, plus if anyone joins up with anything at least 1% animu-like, I'm dropping out.

SRD is the real stuff, with fighters, rogues, wizard, sorcerer, etc.

From the D&D wiki link I posted up. :\
3.5e Homebrew = Homebrew
3.5e SRD = SRD (aka stuff publicly available from the core rulebooks(Player's Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master's Guide)
Maybe I shouldn't have posted that link. :(

Use this. It's a well organized, well made SRD with some more goodies. :)

Why don't we just do a poll?

Simples.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

Soulknife? What the hell is that crap? That was never in the books I owned... The SRD Jack just linked seems to be the core stuff. The core stuff is all I've ever used, and would probably be the best stuff to read up on if you're new and learning.

So, I think I've decided: CHAOTIC EVIL WIZARD for me. I shall name him... Richard!

Soulknife is a psionic class. It's official stuff.

Soulknife is from the Psionics book.

Ninja'd.

Assuming there's room, I guess I'll be a human rogue.  I'll name him Simo Goodman, because Simo is a name with stealthy and terrifying history, and Goodman is a good last name for a fantasy human.

Eh, don't mind choosing a more normal class if we aren't playing with the psionics.

Yeah, I figured it was official. It's from a supplementary though, so it's not "core", unless I'm completely misusing my terms. I've never played psionics.

They don't seem to be separated into "Core" and "Supplementary" though, so I may be getting confused.  Is Fighter core?
