I challenge the confident part, but otherweise agree. Also, there needs to be a distinction for common sense, another form of intelligence distinct from the rest.

Common sense is Wisdom

I remember hearing that 'clever' was once an insult, implying sneakiness and lawlessness, the way a forger or pickpocket might be clever, but I can't find any sources to back that up.  It could also be used to mean someone is nimble and talented at some physical movement eg 'clever hands'.

Clever imho means 'quick witted' - the type of person who will throw a real zinger of an insult into an argument to blow the other person away, or make a joke at just the right time.  Someone who thinks on their feet.
Intelligence imho means the ability to store and process information skillfully, and make usefull connections between pieces of information.  It can mean quick thinking, and I don't think clever and intelligent are mutually exclusive, but intelligent people may also be 'deep thinkers' and process thing more slowly, while 'clever' seems to imply speed.

And it can also be situational - I'm reasonably intelligent, and clever, but I manage to do some REALLY stupid things.

clever people keep things simple, so that they can think of the "possibilities" and use them reliably lightning fast.

Intelligent people like to learn, and are known for using their knowledge frequently.
