Australia, the Most Awesome Country in the World!

I'm doing this because we Aussies need our own thread. Go ahead and talk about anything Australian!

I missed the dust storms in Sydney. What was all that about?

I have actually, on occasion. Considered moving down there.

Seems like a nice enough place.

Seems rather horrifying with all the ecosystem purposefully designed to both scare and tear the sweet flesh from small children.

Doesn't that just mean free food?

It's nice enough, but I don't like most of the people. (Angry, cynical Australian here, btw)

No. No free food.

However, having lived here for five years, I can honestly say I love it here. The night air, the bush, the place in general. The outback surpasses New Zealand in beauty (the mountains however, don't). The only thing I wish I could do is clomp around the bush, which I used to do in New Zealand without fear of some several thousand animals willing to kill me.

I went to rainforest near Port Douglas, went snorkeling in the bush. Beautiful. Scuba dived off the Great Barrier Reef, life changing.

Schooling systems also really good, though I go to a private one, so perhaps that's just me.

Still, come on over.

Having lived here for my entire life I have only two real complaints: 1. The slow and aggravating internet and 2. Summer. I really despise the heat of summer.

OH MY GOD.

Summer. Do not, repeat, do NOT get me started.

Spring, however, is really nice.

First: Since Oz is southern to me, I feel superior to them (north means upward in 2D maps, and I LOVE 2d)

Second: We'll invade Oz, sooner or later, if we still breed like Jackrabbit (:P)

What mountains? We have mountains now?

The trick to summer is to set up your computer in a nice sealed room with air conditioning and go in some time around the end of November, then come out early March the next year.

Ah Australia. Such a great country. Majestic Natural Beauty is kinda marred by the danger of the native animals. Or does that add to the beauty? You have reefs filled with fish off the coast of a major steel works, surrounded by built up areas of suburbs. Australia has a twisted beauty in that Industry, People and Nature live alongside each other. Not always successfully though.

Australia has quite amazing geography, went hiking for 4 days the other week - climbed 3 15ft tall rock faces. Caught food and camped overnight. We finally made it to a  remote, sandy creekbed winding through the mountains. We found $150-$200 worth of gold there, with just a metal detector. Pretty lucky. Hiked back home - a nice day out.

Schooling systems also really good, though I go to a private one, so perhaps that's just me.

Bearing in mind that I've never experienced another schooling system, it certainly is great in my view. Public school here, just paid off a trip to Tasmania with our school today. I also just finished 3 hours of practical first aid training with my school. I don't know if it's with other schools, but my school is great in regards to activities, and courses and stuff. Most of the teachers are great. Some not.

Summer.

Love summer. I surf, dive and swim, so I love summer, love the water. Love looking for lobster and, albeit illegal, abaloni.

That's what I thought :-S. Hills at best.

EDIT: BY Mountain I mean the ranges across Australia.

So, fellow Australians, where all you guys live?
