I went to Ayers Rock about 3 years ago, was fun, but gave me a whole new appreciation of how flat Australia is and how much it's sun hates you.

Hey. Australian deserts are just as searing as all other deserts.... Except that the sun in a normal desert is ignorant of whether you live or die.

The Australian desert knows you are there as soon as you step foot on sand.

Well, the majority of the people live in underground houses, mostly due to the fact that it is quite possible to fry eggs on the sidewalk in the daytime. It is also the Opal capital of the world. I think it's called Coober Pedy.

Are the houses underground then? That's pretty cool. Be easier to build your own house, too.

I wonder how they'd stop eachother from accidentally breaking into other people's houses?

They still own the land down there, so its just like an above ground house but below ground. and with more yard.

There's a place out west in QLD, that, if you stop on the road, you can actually see the telephone line (that runs next to the road) dissapear away below the horizion due to the curve of the earth, its just so flat out there.

I live in the worst part of aus...
South from perth.
Albany, its on the coast.
We don't get proper summers, we get all year round drizzles.
On average we get 5 hot days a year.
It. Is. Driving. Me. Mad.
Oh and it doesn't feel sunny but it still gives sunburn!

Oh and I'm pretty sure every underground town is extremely mini. You can get cheap land in the country becuase of so many people leaving to go to the cities.
