Samoan Earthquake

There was apparently a really big earthquake near Samoa!

I just really want to know if IWM, Vester, and our Australian and New Zealandian members are alright. There was apparently a tidal wave as well is why I'm worried.

It didn't sound like it did much more than wreck some buildings on Samoa; NPR was saying no deaths reported.

Nothing traumatic has happened to Brisbane, except for that gigantic duststorm about a week or so ago.

I'm probably just being scared by journalist fearmongering, but NBC said there were 14 deaths, with more expected as they get a better grasp on those that have been carried out to sea.

By all accounts all hell has borken loose in Samoa, more than 20 deaths reported now, but that's just reported deaths. Its expected to rise a lot lot more.

However, it doesn't seem to be bad for anyone else in NZ/Aus/indonesia etc. Lets just worry about samoa right now, they seem to have been pretty hard.

Death toll keeps going up, it's 34 last I heard.  :( But yeah, it seems to be confined to Samoa.

But yeah, there was an earthquake in Bandung, but I think it's unrelated...

For whatever reason theres a tsunami warning for the west coast of USA, I have a feeling this an't gonna come to pass.

Apparently there was a secondary earthquake in the Samoa region. The first registered at an 8.0, and the secondary one registered at a 5.9.

Between them another hit Tonga registering at 5.8.

If there was a Tsunami threat to Hawaii or the West Coast, it would have bit by now.

Woah, that looks pretty bad.  Guess I'll need to wait till I get tomorrow's Guardian till I can actually say I know anything about the earthquake though.
