[40d]How to convert brook to dirt
« on: September 28, 2009, 09:42:50 pm »

Movie here.

As you can see, I've created two tiles of Silt Loam/Furrowed Silt Loam over the Brook.  This was accomplished by building a wall over it, then deconstructing the wall.  For comparison's sake, I highlight some other Furrowed Silt Loam tiles nearby that were a result of deconstructing walls.

I've never tried it and there's a good chance it could make them freak out.

This doesn't specifically make dirt - rather, it resets the brook's surface to the default layer material for the biome. In your case it turned it into silt loam, but in my previous fort it turned into felsite since the brook went through a mountain biome.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

I got the same thing in my current fort, although it turned to limestone since I had limestone/marble mountains that it passed through.

I constructed a drydock for constructing a glass tower below sea level, and when I removed the upper level which was preventing waves from coming over the side, about 6/10 of the walls removed were replaced by dirt.

Problem?

Well, underneath the dirt floor was a constructed wooden wall.
