I thought it was more "patriotism" than nationalism.  Basically, I took it to mean, "How fucked up can my goverment get before I move to Canada/take up arms/hide in the woods?"

Patriotism is your reasonable belief that your country just so happens to be better than all other countries, while nationalism is other people's misguided delusion that their country is somehow better than yours. Roughly speaking. At least in common usage in American English.

Patriotism is the love of your country. Nationalism is the love of your "nation"/ethinc group.

So, a patriotic person may love the United States of America (as a country). A nationalistic person however love the "American" nation that is a part of the United States of America. It is possible that a nationalistic person may in fact hate the USA for going against the "American" nation, and thus a nationalistic person may not be patriotic.

The problem with these bright lines you demarcate is that the nationalist you describe would view their "nationalism" as patriotism, and would not describe themselves as hating the USA for its "betrayal" of Real True Americans, but rather hating the treacherous individuals who betrayed the Real True USA. It's miserably subjective, and in American terms, what constitutes a "nation" in your description of nationalism is often fungible based on political stances adopted at one moment or another.

This isn't really surprising, though: group identity is a messy business, so trying to make a (reasonable) distinction like "devotion to country" vs. "devotion to nation" tends to descend into ambiguity when one tries to lay out exactly what does and does not constitute one or the other. That Americans often don't bother to distinguish between the notions of country and nation doesn't help.

Last I checked, you didn't even have to sign up to get results.  (OK, it's a little squirrely using a dating site for this crap, but these guys are smart, and it's more of a social networking site than dating)

It is, but I couldn't be bothered.  It's funny though, when I deleted the account, one option was "I just joined for the polls and I'm not into all the dating stuff."  I guess I'm not the only one.
