Dungeons and Dragons Characters
« on: September 27, 2009, 09:51:21 pm »

Well, today I started my first game of dungeons and dragons, and I'm curious to see what kind of characters the population of Bay12games makes. (Assuming you have them.)

I never get to be a player, I'm always roped into DMing, but when I do play I like Paladins.

I enjoy a nice  human paladin or a half elf fighter.

It's been a long time, but Dwarf Clerics used to always kick ass. They tank better than the tanks. And Dwarves are fun to RP.

I tend to play bards a lot, for whatever reason.  I'm.... not entirely sure why.  :-\ So if you're looking for ideas, I'm probably not the best person to ask if you actually want to do well.

I'm talking about the bronze colossus. It's supposed to be made entirely of bronze.
But really he's just a softie inside. They all are really. When megabeasts come to your fort you never welcome them inside and give them a hug, do you. You heartless bastards...

Jackass Dilettante Sorcerer with "Oh, gee, were you in the range of those six Fireballs? Sorry." tendancies.

A Halfling fighter that claims he's the rare "Beardless Dwarf".

Elmo the Chaotic Good Necromancer. Oh yes.

The Agnostic Paladin. When pressed, he will suggest that his powers come from very small particles of matter that give off enormous amounts of energy. His Heraldry is either a Hydrogen molecule, or a mushroom cloud. (Amusingly this does explain why a sheet of lead can block Detect Evil...  ;D )

Today I was Olaf the Halfing Cleric. I ended up shooting a crapload of bandits to death with a crossbow, occasionally stopping to heal or revive my brother's pathetic wizard.

I faintly recall making a dnd character (or some similar game) a while ago at an attempt to start a club at my school but we didn't really get enough interest. I don't recall anything about the character quite frankly except that when doing rolls to determine what I could do while making the char I rolled something that allowed me an exotic feature and I chose magma colored eyes (faintly glowing as well). On second thought it may have not been dnd but I do recall it was something similar.

A sort of Wizard-Fighter duel class. At level 9 I think I had 3 levels of Fighter and 6 levels of Mage.

This was a few editions ago. 3.0 and 3.5 are clumsy and slow and I didn't enjoy is much as the old Thaco system and whatnot.

Here are a few of my characters. I always feel the need to be the oddball of a group.

Revan Ulzak, Learaige Comistue(I come up with most of the names on the spot :P), C'hpyd, Adandul(the DM let me use Savage Species. :D)

Fun Fact: Revan and Adandul are from the same game, but I forgot the first time I joined and unknowingly joined again with a friend and a new character.

EDIT: I would explain more about them, but two of them were played for a short time, and two were used only once. :\

Same here. I just think Paladins are the most fun class because it's a challenge to juggle what you want to do and what you have to do. It doesn't hurt that they kick all kinds of ass either, especially if it's an evil ass. Of course, they don't work with DMs that put Paladins in situations where they can do nothing but fall. But such people need to be beaten to death with the DMG, and as soon as I realize I'm playing with such a DM I quit and I never play with him again, even if he's not the DM any more.

I always play good characters.  Doesn't matter really what else, though I'm a crappy organizer so wizards are rare, and I do feel more comfortable playing a character of the same sex..

I tend towards wizards, or rouges, probably because I seem to be unable to let go of the notion that intelligence is the only valuable stat. I also have the bad habit of overloading my characters with character to the point of unplayability, because figuring out what would be in character becomes a complex puzzle. I also haven't played that much, and I cant think of any time I got a character past level 3 (the hard way, at least).
