Ork World Fortress: Orc Camp Capers.
« on: September 27, 2009, 08:44:00 pm »

Time for a community/succession fort, but I'm not sure which. If there enough interest, I do a succession fort, if not, then it'll be a plain old community fort.

I'm going to be using this world:, which is bsically a world overrun with orcs, where there are no surviving dwarf civs, and I have an idea for a story, not a fleshed out idea, but an idea.

So; Succession, or Community fort?

Edit: Sorry, forgot to list mods:

Embark on the most inhospitable place I can find. Where the are no apparent natural resources. I.e. magma, river, etc. Except for an Aquifer.

Story's pretty obvious: rebuild the dwarven nation.

Then why are there no votes in the poll? Hmm?
Succession is winning 3-0, at the moment.

I'm a bit skeptical - is it really fun to limit possibilities like this? For me, fun from inhospitality results from the multitude and potency of threats, rather than from the limited means of responding. Part of the fun lies in the creative answers that people find to problems, and the means in which they implement them (or screw them up royally)

It's just an idea, and depending on the result of the poll, I'll change it, or even ask what people want if it goes to succession.

Dammit you beat me to it! /nerdrage (creater of the world he is using btw)

buuuut im slow so you get the honor. I suggest succesion, and third turn as well. I say you AT LEAST get a pipe/flux. There are orcs everyfuckingwhere, so i we will be gettin all the enemies we could ever want. We could even piss off the humans or elves just for the lulz. Seeing as there is no dwarve civ AT ALL, we will be getting all the difficulty we need.

I have no clue if its gonna even get a caravan, will it if there is no dwarve civ?

They're actually a special ore. Instead of being mined, they're hunted from between the trees and instead of producing metal, they produce food: rhesus pieces.

@Taters:  :P  And yeah, if it's succession, then I'll do that, but on a community it's all up to me.

EDIT: The poll will be locked at 13:30 GMT+0 on Tuesday.

Hehe I like the setup.

I voted community fort.
Granted, there won't be really much place for people to claim a dwarf, unless immigrants DO show up against all odds. Or some magic is done with Dwarf Companion to create immigrants.

But I think that is even more of a disadvantage for a Succession game. Every player will want to add their personal thingy to the fortress at their turn. I think, with this little dwarves, and a setup that is quite challenging already, that would be a bit hard to accomplish.
