He didn't make the ring, he just made the curse worse. You're the one with ranks in priest and arcane magic, you could make another pretty easy.

But the technique he used, I'd presume the same technique could be used on just about anything.

Yes, he could curse just about anything, so could you. But the anti-magic part came from the original enchantment on the ring.
