A note on abilities in case it wasn't clear, once you have an ability you can use it without fail, the roll only determines it's effectiveness. Without the ability you would have to roll both to see if you could do whatever you are trying, and to see how well it works.

I go outside and enchant five pebbles to serve as beacons for teleportation. (I can teleport into a safe location anywhere at least one of these pebbles are,or so is my intent)

You can do that, but not at your current skill level. The most you could do now is strip the useful parts from them once they are dead.

Complain that darks is too over-powered.
dark isn't over-powered, it can't actually physically interact with things, limiting it's utility outside of combat. Besides, you have the most destructive power, but it is weakened on this plane(stonemt is gonna have an even harder time in the plane of light, and shadows will be much harder to come by). If anyone is overpowered right now it's Jervous.
