The other night I had the "Old Hag" effect. Anyone else experienced that?
OK, so I had a dream that not only went on for 12 nights, each night picking up where the last left off, but it was a somewhat coherent storyline. Get ready, this one's a doozy, and streamlined to cut out a few unrelated parts.
So, my parents have driven all the way to England (I'm in America, and we did not use a plane or boat in any leg of the trip. Only in dreams!) with me to drop me off at a boarding school for the summer. A few of my friends are going as well. So we drive for the longest time, and finally arrive at a school on a hill overlooking a prairie of sorts, with a bunch of cars dropping off kids at a parking lot that mysteriously disappeared after this opening part. We get there, meet up, etc. and go to work.
And apparently, this school is all fun. At least in my mind. The first class was a weapon proficiency class, where I trained to be a swordsman. There was also a really neat chess style holographic game that was almost an RTS of sorts, but I won't go into detail; the tournament involving it lasted a good month or so, though.
And as if it wasn't awesome enough, one of our teachers was an Asian man that can only be described as the gay love child of Bruce Lee and Liu Kang. For the sake of simplicity, he will be Instructor Kang. So Instructor Kang was taking us out to the woods about a mile from the school for Wilderness Survival class, when we are approached by two Stormtroopers, of all things. They start talking to Kang, and the conversation went something like this:
Stormtrooper: Mr. Kang, you are staffed at *Boring, prestigious name* Boarding School, correct?
Kang: Yes, I am. Why do you ask?
Stormtrooper: Sir, we're with the IRS, and we've noticed that you are well behind on your payments for the property your school is on. Behind by two decades, in fact.
Kang: But this school is in England! You have no authority here!
Stormtrooper: Yes, we do, sir.
Kang: How?
Stormtrooper: We're the IRS, sir, we're just that good.
Kang then proceeds to brutally murder them with a bo staff that he seemingly pulled from his ass, and then told the students to run back to the school. We did, to find it literally under siege by a legion of Imperial Stormtroopers, with AT-ATs blasting away at the walls.
We run in through the main gate, a squad of troopers just behind us, and find most of the students and teachers are still trapped in the courtyard, as the others have run inside to hide, and have locked the doors. Luckily they left the windows open, so Instructor Kang tells us to fly, and get inside.
This brings me to another thing I learned there: How to FLY. My way is unique, I should think: I start off at a run, then jump in the air and fold my legs, Indian style, to make it seems like I'm on a flying carpet. It worked, in this case, and we all got inside. Except the little brother of this girl I hate, who was pasted by an AT-AT.
So now we're inside, and the teachers tell the students to hide while they hold off those pesky IRS agents. I run to the dining hall, and hide under a table, just in time for a group of Phase-I Dark Troopers (To non Star Wars buffs, a really awesome droid that wields a sword and shield) to enter the room and start searching.
I then notice that the girl I hate is beside me, hiding under the same table. We look into each other's eyes for what seemed like an eternity, and I whispered in her ear,
"Get your own spot, bitch!", and I shoved her out into the open. So yeah, she's dead. After that, however, I jump out and start fighting off the droids with my sword, hacking them to ribbons. My friends arrive, and we drive off the Imperials after an awesome battle that lasted all day.
So, I go to bed, and wake up in the middle of the night to find my dog (from real life) in my bed and licking my face. I call my parents, and ask what to do with him. They tell me to keep him there for the summer, so my friends and I take him on a walk through the creepy, mist-filled forest at midnight. Aren't we just so intelligent?
So, somewhat obviously, when we do this we start seeing spooky things, climaxing with a mysterious hooded figure standing in our path. He drew a long blade. And drew it...
And drew it...
And drew it, I mean this katana he has was HUGE. So being the tactical geniuses we are, we all charge him at once. He kicks one of my friends in the gut, and sends him hurtling all the way back to school. Another he cuts to bloody ribbons, but leaves barely alive. As me and another charge him, he freezes time somehow, just in time for the headmaster of the school to arrive, who draws a sword and fights the hooded man. It's pretty epic to watch, but since I had finished the Harry Potter books not two weeks before, the Headmaster is murdered. The hooded man walks up to me, and leaves a note on the ground. He then walks off, and we unfreeze.
I read the note, and it says to come to the Cave of Such-and-Such, alone, at a certain time. I get my friends to the infirmary, and do it. At the entrance to the darkest part of a cave, I am faced with a riddle. It tested my heart to the core, a true examination of my very soul. Or maybe it was about mammoths, what matters is that I got in.
Once I was inside I found a large cave with a single pool in the center, with a ray of light shining down from a hole in the roof. The ray showed me the face of the hooded attacker. It was... Sephiroth!.. For some reason. Except now his sword was short enough to be reasonably wielded by a humanoid creature. We fought, but he was incredibly fast, and outmaneuvered me. I would say I lost, but I didn't just lose, I was beaten into the dirt, and then that dirt was beaten into the rock below it. As I lay there dying, he went on a long speech of how the Age of Demon had come, and showed me in a crystal ball, which showed the future of this very day, where an army of demons would overrun the school, and then the world. As this happened, a voice whispered in my ear, "Stand and fight, and I shall give you what you require."
I mustered all my strength and stood, and from the ray of light came a... Well, the only way to describe it was a very sharp black-and-red keyblade. It looked pretty badass, though. This time, I'm more powerful than him, and I kill him and throw him in the pool. I then fly back to the school as fast as I can, to find the demons already attacking.
I get inside, and join my friends in the dining hall, along with Instructor Kang, and fight off wave after wave of demons, until we are crushed under the sheer weight of them. I am the last to fall, and my mind goes dark.
Some time later, I see a flash of light, only to discover that the Stormtroopers are throwing away the demon bodies, and rescuing us! I was told that the new headmaster was far better at keeping up with his payments. The combined forces pushed back the demon hordes, and the day was won.
OR WAS IT? High above in the sky was Sephiroth riding a massive demon of pure shadow. He, to make a long story short, took out a Star Destroyer and its entire squadron of TIE fighters. Seemingly hopeless, the situation was. (Yoda-speak, whoops.) But then, a dragon came down, which was apparently mine. I jumped onto the green-scaled beast, and flew up to fight. As our mounts fought in the sky, I decided we would be more even on the ground. So I jumped from my saddle and knocked him off his, sending us both falling over 3 miles straight down to the earth below. Aren't my dreams filled with the best logic?
So we fight, in typical climax of the story style, as we fall to our inevitable deaths. As we just reached the ground I grabbed him and put him below me, making sure he died just a single millisecond before I did. Thus, I won.
Amazingly, I survived, and woke up to a celebration between the school and the Empire after the battle. Apparently I had won the battle for them thanks to my heroic actions, and was... a hero. As I went off to enjoy the party (and this is what makes me remember the dream, coming up) was a little poem spoken to me in a voice I cannot attribute to either my dream or myself.
"The dream is done,
Your life has begun,
Now go, my child,
And live it."
For some reason this just makes me teary eyed remembering it.
And another thing, has anyone else had multiple, unrelated dreams in the same location? Discuss.
