The only reason it would crash is if something happened out of array boundary.
The only thing that comes even close to reaching the edge of the array is the shadow.
It is probably an unlucky roll on the shadow,
 causing it to spawn too close to the edge of the array.
Since the array is 600 across,
 and the visible land you play on only populates the middle third of it.

The other thing it could be is something like a seed or AI falling all the way to the bottom,
 (seems very likely)
 or perhaps moving towards the side too far. (Also possible)
I'll look into these two concerns soon.

At the moment, trees don't really interact with water,
 but that is on the immediate list of changes to be made.

I showed the game to a friend of mine yesterday, he seemed really impressed,
 and it sort of rekindled my will to furiously work on this game.
Too bad today is really busy,
 or it might have been a release rampage.

Well, if it is a single large array, going off the map mid-edge would just loop around, unless that edge was on the first axis.

That explains a lot.

Also, I had a ton of crazy ideas in my sleep about how my code can be improved,
 so I'll be rewriting the major functions soon.
I can think of a ton of ways to optimize it,
and at the same time make a ton of other features much easier to add.

Transparent water is on hold for the moment,
 while I completely redo the physics orders and drawing systems.

EDIT:
I've been molding the code all day, and I've only got a few major changes left.
From now on, it will be really easy to deal with.

I've decided to upload early, though I'm still working on it, and the ends aren't tied up.
