What do you mean?
I've heard the term tossed around a bunch,
and I'm sure the way I'm doing it is inefficient.

It's just telling the computer or graphics card to do a whole bunch of things in a single instruction.

It might be faster, if it doesn't have to send the individual coordinates for each cube's vertexes(and texture position), and having the texture set as well might or might not make it faster at the cost of a diffrent one for each textured cube type.

Just played the newest version... It's been a long time since I tried this out.  Water is amazingly fun.  I enjoyed going to an empty area and start building my own little island, although my pathetic graphics card made this difficult.

One "bug" I noticed - the shift-d command seemed to place a bunch of invisible blocks, which made everything render weird, and would cause crashes if I placed it with the cursor and then tried to switch to Orange.  I'm guessing a missing texture?

It would be nice to be able to tell the simulation to run while in the cursor mode.

That key used to create a mid-type terrain between soil and rock,
 which was sort of both.
I removed it for consistency.

I thought I'd take this in a more fitting direction,
 so I'm using qwerty's idea.

Tell me what you think.

I hate the grass.

Do something like just a bunch of dots or something.
Or something that doesn't conflict with trees.

Dang Orange that looks nice.

I agree with Hippo though needs to break up the grass / trees a little more. Maybe on the trees make the green outline around the shape be the same as the bark (but keep the leafy center)?

Very well, it is all up in the air for now.

I'll try a few more things out,
and hope there is something we can all settle on.

Love, love the new tiles.

The grass symbol just needs to not be directional.

I don't know why everyone's hating you for this, it looks great! Gives it a kind of a cartoonish-bright-colours-happy-thoughts-skippy-skippy-la-la quality, so I don't know if you want that or if it was intended, but that's how it comes across to me.

Also, getting rather low framerates from the newer version, especially in fullscream mode. However, this is probably due to the fact that I'm using an integrated chipset instead of a normal graphics card.

I am loving the new look, and I'm not changing it.

I'm merely going to play around with the separate textures,
until I find a nice balance.

For all of your frame rate woes,
look ahead to the next version,
 which features improved physics calculations,
 and optional graphics attack.

We're not.
We just hate how the grass conflicts with the trees. As said in the post above you, It's directional.

Actually, there is something I need to clear up,
 which I forgot about.

On that guy who talked about Java and stuff:

He sort of knew what he was talking about,
but definitely wasn't a true programmer.
His "programming" class had taught him how to plug Java modules together to create software,
like a mix and match version of GM or something.
They had also led him to believe that this was the best way to do things.

When he realized that I was an actual programmer,
 with code written by hand,
 he seemed sort of impressed.

I think this misconception will probably be argued out more later,
especially since he might read this forum. : )

Anyways, I'm going to try to release before school.
