My first Great Dwarven City
« on: September 25, 2009, 04:28:57 am »

I have just established my first above ground game. My city has over 120 dwarves, far 2 many animals and a couple of prisoners. The only thing i do underground is mine.

Do you sacrifice people atop that pyramid?

Wow.   How'd you get the ramps on top of the roofs?  I don't see any stairways down, did you connect them with temporary walkways or something?

The temple is pretty neat, I think I'm going to steal that  ;)

You could try visual fortress and see how it looks in that viewer.

Are all buildings used, or are some empty halls of statues?

THX! ;D

Ok now for the answers.
I sacrifice orcs, gobbos and nobles on the astec pyramid.
The ramps on the roofs are my callsign in a sense. At the top level, not the roof don't build a wall in one section.
then build a ramp so it hangs on the side of the building.
This ramp will allow you to get to the roof and do the work. Floor in the center and ramps on the surrounding edge. lastly once the roof is done destroy the hanging ramp and close the wall.

Lastly. All the buildings are used, storage, dining halls and housing. (For 150 people)
The central tower contains my few remaing nobles and their stuff.
I don't know visual fortress. Will try it when i got time.

Visual Fortress really did it justice. It looks great for an above ground. Nice work.

Wow, I'm surprised how different the central tower looks in visual fortress. The rooftops look much better as well.

I like the lining of the roofs with spikes. Will consider it when I make my next fortressdungeon.

What would you do if you decided to expand? Knock down walls?

no build some slum-type buildings outsside the city walls, and give the dwellings inside the walls to your champions and people with legendary skills

Very nice! An above-ground city is something I've never managed yet.

Despite the aztecness of the temple, the general grid layout and squat, rectangular buildings reminds me a lot of Roman architecture.

I went for a babylon design. I just started a new City. Far larger project And more organized city design.

One more thing. My game is pretty heavily modded with my own mods. So i don't want to upload it. And it does not work if u upload it in a clean game.
(I Tried just to make sure.)
Sorry.

It's not like the DF Folder is huge. You should be able to upload it to megaupload or something :/
