I was going to say something about the practicality of some of "the moves" I've seen in porn but I'd hate to be the one to get this thing locked >_>

I thought I could avoid posting this but apparently not.

This thread is about a topic related to porn and not porn itself, it is supposed to be about stupid people like him, demonising of homosexuals, and generally lieing to children, or whatever else you get out of the article. Please can we stay away from this discussion of porn translating into real life and similar. If it continues I'll lock this thread to avoid Toady or Threetoe the bother. Consider it a test of our maturity that we can avoid derailing into the sexual discussion of porn and instead focus on the stupidity of lying to children about it making you gay etc. etc.

The above section is also going to be edited into the first post.

Soooo, he tries to make sure sexual growth in children continues in a healthy fashion by limiting their options. Making being gay sound 'bad' just means more people, who don't have any choice in the matter, will be forced to hide it for fear of being deemed a leper.

Can anyone tell me what the hell that sentence is supposed to mean? I understand the two statements made, but I can't for the life of me tell how they're supposed to be related.

Its the senator being a dumbass and mistaking being autosexual for being homosexual. And assuming that looking at pictures of two people of the opposite sex sleeping together will make you gay, because obviously watching what he himself would consider 'natural' will force you to change your ideals.

Being gay is something that happens. Stimuli has a major part, yes, but in the end you have to make the decision yourself.

It's a total non-sequitur, as far as I can tell. The second statement is supposed to imply the first, but then it also implies that homosexuality is sexuality turned inwards. By that I assume he means directed at oneself, which is a bit silly, because that's not homosexuality at all.

Stupid people are everywhere. Looks like the main problem here is that this fellow happened to be a politician. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people out there who lie to their children to keep them away from pornography.

Honestly, how is it possible to believe this stuff?   It looks a bit like he's just trying to "excuse" some pedophilia incident on having watched porn or something, but it's all so muddled and filled with stupidity that it's...   Whatever.

It's been a few years, but not that many, since I was closely associated with pre-adolescent boys, boys about ten years of age. But it is my observation that boys of that age have less tolerance for homosexuality than any other class of people. They speak badly about homosexuality.

This is my personal fave. It concisely shores up the perception of every adolescent who can't believe adults are making the rules for them. Obviously he gathered this entirely from 'Dude, that's so gay!' comments (maybe he used to think it meant merry and joyous, like in the 19th century?). Bear in mind these are the same people who will say 'Ohhh, Bobby likes girrrrrls!' and are just discovering political and sexual humor.

That part of his speech ALMOST makes it sounds like he supports homosexuals - and then he goes on to recommend lying to children to 'protect' them from becoming homosexual. IMHO, lying to children about serious issues will inevitably have consequences worse than whatever you're trying to protect them from.

I think kids get emotionally scared enough when the Easter bunny and Santa turn out to be lies. When they find out porn does not make you gay, I doubt that they would trust their parents anymore.
