It's hit or miss really.  I've never gotten any kind of entertainment from university-related events.  The semester I spent living in a dorm was among the most miserable, boring four months I can remember.  Of course, I was going to an agricultural college then, and the rest of my dorm-mates were, at their best, Halo and UFC obsessed idiots.

The problem with Apples to Apples is that, pretty much no matter what the category is, the winning response is Helen Keller. And sometimes that makes me feel like a horrible person.

Ha, I love that game. From my experience, it usually declines almost entirely into sexual innuendos after like the fourth round.

It usually gets old before that long. Unless you combine it with alcohol, in which case people stop paying attention to it before that long.

I don't play it that often, and it's usually when it's like 1 AM and everyone is all wound up.
You'd be surprised at how funny some stuff is at 1 AM.

 It really depends on chance I guess. If you just keep getting crap like happy and normal to cards like apples, the 1990's and highschool and crap then things get horrible. But if you get the good stuff like The 1970's, or Helen Keller...

 Also, I think I stumbled upon an online version of it. I wanna test it out if anybody is interested.

Played a hell of a lot of Uno at Sandefjord.  The first few weeks were basic card games, then it moved over to Uno, then there was the poker tournament, after which everyone was hooked on Texas Hold'Em for a couple weeks.

And some guessing game kept surfacing...   I think the Norwegian name translated to "Genius".  You were basically given a category, and then had to spew out as many things in that category as you could think of.  Another person, using a set of very spiffy code-reading glasses, would keep tabs on a little plastic doohicky.

For example, if the category was "sharks", you would name every shark species you were aware of.  For every one you listed that was on the card, the person would mark a notch.  The more notches, generally, the better.


There was also a set of Munchkins, but I think that got played all of two times.

Too bad I live like 10 minutes down the road from a university, and is planning to live at the same address for about 5-10 years.

Anywho, I don't think you'd do something like this in NZ.
