My personal recommendation is to lower the temperature of your room significantly and then get looots of blankets. Your body temperature drops when you sleep anyway, and studies have shown that people sleep better in a cold environment; it's freezing down here and I'm practically about to nod off straight into the keyboard.

Agreed. Sleeping in perfect darkness helps as well.
For reference, the heating in my house is bust, and the bulb in my room has blown.
I remedy this with a buttload of blankets

Caffiene doesn't really have an effect once you're used to it. In fact, my dad uses coffee to fall asleep.
More likely he falls asleep despite it.

Well, he takes a cup of coffee right before bed. And there's been a few times when he falls asleep right after a cup.

I sometimes fall asleep with my headset on. I feel sad for you.
I have some trouble sleeping without music though, have so many unimportant things on my mind that keep me awake then :/

ask him if he drinks de-caf

cuz caffeinne is prolly the most powerful legal drug in the world, although one could argue nicotine (also, many illegal drugs dont hold a candle to it).  I have been addicted to and quit most every other form of substance abuse (if u think u have a problem and want to talk to someone, please pm me).  I have attempted to quit caffiene 4 times and it nearly kills me.

The body is more likely to stay away during times you sometimes do work, and concentrate.

What do you do at night?

Also, if you have to get up at a certain time the next day, theres usually 2 (large)sleep cycles, and 2 perfect times for either 1 cycle or 2 cycles to complete.

I worked out my daily caffeine intake (4 double espressos, 2 cups of tea, on average) to be almost 400mg of caffeine a day. I decided to not drink anything apart from water a few days ago for a day, and I wasn't very happy by about noon.

Am I the only one who thinks coffee tastes like shit? I hate it can't even smell the stuff without getting nauseous.

I dislike the taste and smell of coffee also, not to mention the fact that it does evil evil things to my intestines........

Sadly, I have made Dr. Pepper my drug of choice.  About a 12 pack a day.
The perfect blend of sugar, caffeine and the "23" flavors in equal and exact portions in every can.

God thats pathetic.

Please shoot me.

I experience this, too. I just take a melatonin pill around 8-9 and I'm tired by 10:30 or so and out by midnight.

I hate the tast of coffee. I enjoy the smell a lot more (common for me)

This whole caffeine business is just weird to me. I used to down a two liter of Mountain Dew a day, at least; I switched to Sprite a while back 'cause I got tired of the taste and didn't notice a difference.

Caffeine doesn't work for some people, or doesn't give that buzz.

Also if you have quite milky coffee before bed it's more likely that it's the warm milk sending you to sleep than the caffeine.

OH! That reminds me. Jasmine. Have something that is Jasmine scented (real, not artificial scented) because this will send you off really well. I was giving my girlfriend a massage with a jasmine scented massage bar once and I had to stop because it was sending me to sleep. It's natural and shouldn't (I think) cost you too much.

Jasmine?
Every local tea in Indonesia is Jasmine... Perhaps that's why I don't get insomnia?
(Ocha -- Green tea makes me unable to sleep for hours :P)

I love coffee. I always drink it black, straight from the percolator. Probably incredibly bad for me, but to be honest the world is going down the pan anyway. I love tea as well. Proper loose leaf tea, obviously.
