If you haven't heard of the Dynasty Warrior series, well, you  should. The DW series is based off the Romance of the Three  Kingdom books, and is one of the worst reviewed games of all  time, because it is basically a beat-them-up, with repetitive  combat and with some features added onto it. But I like the  series: sometimes, you just want some mindless slaughter. The  Empire expansion packs allow you to run your own empire,  giving a backstory behind your battles.

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires allow you to choose between being  a mercenary, being an officier in an army, and being Ruler,  and you can switch between these roles at any time.

However, I realize that this game has another rather  undocumented feature...EDIT MODE. You can create up to 100 new  and different characters, which will be within the game. You can fight with AND against them during the main campagin. You can also interact with  them as you would with any of the default characters, including receiving missions from them, swearing oaths, and marrying.

So, yep, I plan on porting all Bay12Games members into the game, playing as one of the Bay12Gamers, and seeing what sort of strangeness will occur in Ancient China. Interested in become a DYNASTY WARRIOR?!

I played DW 2 at a friends house.  I remember running around a lot, slashing randomly, and the rather satisfying shout of "I've defeated an officer!" every few minutes.

That's not to say I didn't thoroughly enjoy it.  The other bit I remember was killing Lu Bu at a time when you weren't supposed to kill him (you were supposed to run somewhere else and then have a cutscene kill him off).  However, me and my friend still beat him, after about 3 minutes of constant fighting with him.

I still occasionally go back and play DW3.  That one was fun!
Samurai Warriors 1&2 were also fun, but two was distinctly lacking a custom officer mode. (Though Empires made up for this.) The less said about Samurai Warriors 1's customer officer mode, the better. 

This one is alot of fun. I got to play it a bit on my brothers copy. Made Afro Samurai. Good times were had. 

If you want to add Afro to your game (and really, who wouldn't?) go with the dark complexion, tall, medium girth, and muscled frame. Use the clothes that look like a martial arts uniform, and make all the parts white. Give him a black afro. For his stats, go with the slow one, and use a deep serious voice. Give him a single, long katana. Enjoy. I can't remember if I was able to give him a headband or not. Give it a try!

Been a while since I played DW, they've felt lackluster because it was the same game with more stuff in it. I'm just in this for the story though, this ought to be interesting.
