Gosh, just looking at the Ur-Quan .gif gives me chills. Star Control had a pretty profound hold on my childhood.

Star Control 2 had some of the most unique aliens I have ever seen in a game. Most of them weren't even humanoid! And where else can you find a race of aliens that have bombed themselves back to the stone age dozens of times? (and sees nothing wrong with this)

.....

We've never bombed ourselves back to the stone-age.

Hell, technological progress hasn't faltered in the past 200 hundred years despite the bombs.

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

Damn you Tropes! I missed out on alot, it seems.

Speaking of which, Firefox actually crashed at a "decent" time. Albeit about 12 hours in, but the crash gravity-whipped me out of the TVTrope black hole purgatory. The fact that I still have a night makes me happy enough.

I recently got Crysis to work, and despite an initial crash (thanks to being an idiot and seeing if my computer can handle max settings; which amazingly, it can. It can play Crysis at full, but a tad choppy, and has ludicrous load times. Reverting it oddly crashed it just as I actually started to play. Runtime error. Ran out of resources apparently, from the looks of it (I had other programs on too.).), I like it so far. Amazing graphics, and rather intuitive, for what it's worth. Didn't get into any serious story yet; but I'm more amped about the Mechwarrior Mod. I'm gonna install that soon enough.

And to make me a bit happier; we have more SC2 fans here than I expected. I'd like to do some online dueling again in that game; that was fun.

We also gotta try playing some UFO2000 (Multiplayer deathmatching in XCOM (1 & 2)) against each other. It's so freaking worth it, and it's a bit more optimized for MP combat (some weapons are balanced, and other adjustments are made to make it more fair online, as well as friendly on the system resources). All that's required to play the game are the game files, the program will handle the rest.

Linky: http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net/

I definitely want to livestream a session of this. Played it, worth the download; works with any version of XCOM 1 & 2 (as a base; even the demos).

EDIT:
Office Space is also on. I forgot how funny that movie is.

hmm. How d'ja play melee online? ...I remember playing with some customised games back in '01 but dont remember any network play in those.

I fear MP xcom, it seems a good way to lose some elitist notions I'm quite fond of... being a tactical genius for one. ;)
