Can't (legally) put much detail, but an abusive manager in my chain of command got the "resign before we fire you" touch of death from higher up after an ethics investigation.

I have decided that now is the perfect time for me to begin the next chapter of my life.  I will be taking a short sabatical so that I can unwind before beginning my next adventure!  I know I've touched each and every one of you in a positive way, and I look forward to hearing of your individual successes and the success of the wider team in the years to come.

Hopefully that'll mean things get better in the workplace, and they don't get replaced with someone even worse :V
