Possibly with boiled onion peel. Shops also sell various paints for the occasion, but those look noxious when they get through cracks in the shell.
EDIT: Which of those are "big"? Might have referred to wrong ones.

I'd assume most of them are colored with food coloring, don't know what it is exactly for which colour but I assume you're looking at some E followed by 3 numbers. Sounds scary when said like that but you know citric acid, the sour sugar they pour on sour candy? That's E330. Just because it's an Exxx doesn't tell you much how synthetic it is or not (in the case of strawberry or banana I forgot, anyway some aromas are sourced from molds that were grown on woodchips.... so if presented like that the average consumer might actually prefer something synthetic)
