Solid things that melt when you cook them are great for batter frying. Oreos get real soft and a bit more flavorful (I assume Hydrox as well, but haven't tried). I also found "Twice Baked Potato Balls" on a website full of unhealthy food.

My attempts at them (which turned out quite nicely) were just cooking then mashing a potato, mixing in the normal ingredients for a twice baked potato*, making a ball, rolling in flour, then egg mixture, then bread crumbs. The double-thick breading keeps it from leaking all over your deep fryer (determined experimentally). Let it cool slightly before eating, because it's probably molten on the inside.

Potato, cheese, sour cream, butter, green onion/chives, cut up bacon or similar salty meat, garlic. Potato should be about 50% of the final ball, as with a good twice-baked potato. Leaving the skin on the potato is fine.

For a potato to be 'double baked' you have to bake it a second time, instead of dunking it into the fryer. Just skip the batter part, and sprinkle some shredded cheese on top before putting it into the oven again.
Yours is more like deep fried baked potato.

Deep fried chocolate bars are not just a trope? I mean we got the explenation earlier in that you freeze them but I was still dubious... Honestly just assumed they fried the cake in a pan to give it a crunchy crust.

They actually date back a while, first mars bar was fried in the 90s I think, then they popped up in the media for a while after someone mentioned them in the mid 2000s.

I think it started as a joke, a chippie had a sign saying they'd fry anything and someone got them to do a mars bar. Though it is possible that someone just legitimately thought 'I wonder what fried chocolate, caramel and nougat tastes like.'

Oh, it's not my bachelor party (or wedding), I'm just the one of the three best men most trusted to actually put the damn thing together. I've been quietly panicking on this thing for over a month.

I go fishing, y'see, except instead of fish, it's ferrous garbage, my fishing rod is my arms, and the tackle is a giant heck-off magnet on some rope. Un(notreally)fortunately, in the venerable words of Dwarf Fortress, there is nothing to catch in the river. I'll have to go to the next town over again, which fortunately has lots of garbage dumping-off points bridges and things to cast a magnet from.

It's my first outing of the year. Testing the waters, so to say.
