Isn't that the plot of Adam Sandler's Click?

I've never watched it. From the synopsis I've read, it seems like a similar premise, but different.

The premise (communication with alternate reality/timeline versions of themself) definitely shows up in fanfiction occasionally, for what it's worth, though I don't think I've ever actually read any of them. Probably other fiction, as well, that I just haven't personally encountered.

Similar ones I actually have read a few of were actual non-communication interactions, mixed timelines or whatever seeing several versions of the same character teaming up and/or fighting and/or screwing each other. Pretty certain that has shown up repeatedly over the years in officially published works, primarily comic books.

... basically, the general concept will hit movie screens eventually. If you live long enough, you might actually see it!

Learned how to make calcium wafers for the GALS, gave it one and it's been eating some of it. Now to try get some oyster grit and an ice cube tray and make a little tub's worth of proper calcium tablets.

Also finally gotten around to trying to sort out my backlog of hobby projects. Lot's of unfinished models, spare parts and broken minis I never fixed that all need sorted, but I've been needing to get around to doing it for ages so getting started is a step in the right direction

Also also my mother has been bumped up the waiting list for a puppy, and is now getting it on Saturday. She payed a deposit to get on a list for a cockapoo (cocker spaniel x miniature poodle) from a breeder a few months ago, and now someone's cancelled and left a wee black and grey male puppy available. She's been wanting a dog for years and decided on a cockapoo after meeting my aunt and uncle's one while visiting them in Australia a few years ago. She's very excited.

Movie idea: a guy gets a special magical cell phone, it doesn't matter how he gets it, like a genie or a G-Man expie gives it to him, and the cell phone has the power to call other versions of himself in other timelines. These are all other versions of himself how have made different choices in life, with the idea being that each and every choice made has made a different splitting timeline, and he can talk to these other versions of himself to see how things would have gone differently.

Of course, he calls the alternate version of himself that didn't fuck up the relationship he had with his highschool sweetheart; to find that version of himself married to her, but miserable, poor, and cuckolded; also, this version is frankly really irritated at the huge number of calls he gets from alternate versions of himself. He calls the alternate version of himself who actually got good grades and got into a good college, to find an alternate version of himself who is much wealthier, but overworked and stressed out. and it goes on like that, finding that in each major decision made in his life, there was something gained, but also something lost.

He's not sure what to make of this information, until he himself starts getting calls from alternate versions of himself that had made far worse decisions than him; but are in a similar boat of wanting to know if the grass is greener on the other side (of the timeline).

Some of the alternate versions of himself are so different as to seem like total strangers. Some call him not out of curiosity, but just to harass him, in a kind of self-flagellation.

I suppose the crux of the movie would be to stop worrying about what-ifs and to appreciate the life you have, as opposed to the life you could have had.

It'd probably be a stupid movie, probably better as a short story. I just wanted to write the idea down.

I like it a lot, thanks for sharing.  Made me happy!

I Recall Perversions of Science episode 6: "Planely Possible" that had a...similar premise.  Check it out, you can probably find it on Youtube (that is where I saw it).

Is that brilliance, or is that old-fashioned DRM along the lines of asking players a question where the answer can only be found in the game manual?

♪Gonna take on the world someday♫

Positive medical stuff is actually happening for me. At the end of this month, I have 3 vertebra in my neck fused. In early August, I have both sides of my lumbar spinal nerves ablated, so they'll shut up for a while and my legs will stop telling me they're on fire. In late August, I have 3 vertebra between my shoulder blades fused. I have movement on a pending State disability case, finally. I start therapy on Monday for severe untreated PTSD and an anxiety disorder that went undiagnosed until now. Everyone just lul'd and figured I was ADHD like the rest of my family. After I do a full suite of imaging next week, I'm probably going to be referred to an ortho specialist for damage to all the joints in my legs, and therapy for arthritis in everything from my hair down.

To top it all off, my brother and a friend I made on Twitch are teaming up to take me to not one, but TWO metal concerts for my birthday in September! I get to see Unleash the Archers and Judas Fucking Priest with special guest Sabaton.

You guys, I finally get to start healing.

I thought vertebrae were supposed to be like segments? So that flexibility can happen? I might be thinking of something else

They're also supposed to provide structural support, which tends to win out in priority for a bipedal species.
