There's also huge supply problems with 30xx cards purely from the fact that literally everybody in the world is trying to buy a computer because they're stuck at home all day.

Cryptominers too I guess.

I wasn't sure it was worth it to make the joke about now being ready to play all those games you bought ten years ago and could already run flawlessly before the upgrade, heh.

I bought a 1080 from a friend as an upgrade from the somewhat decrepit 980 I was using before, and that's the only way I was able to get a decent card at a decent rate. Can't imagine trying to buy something new right now, ngh.

There's huge supply problems with basically everything that requires a chip to function.

Some fat bastard probably ate the chips or something.

Yeah, crypto miners spiking prices aside, it's hard to find somewhere that has cards from a decent manufacturer without being a prebuilt from the same company. I was able to get good parts for everything else but had to settle for a Gigabyte-branded GPU.

Wait, what's wrong with Gigabyte?
Gigabyte GPUs are fairly notorious for having driver issues, serious problems with their fan control software, and for general quality control issues in their manufacturing process leading to a high percentage of new cards being DOA or dying within a few months of installation.

Their mobos and CPUs are quality, but their GPUs are just kinda shoddy compared to brands like ASUS or MSI. They're still on the upper half of the quality bracket, but that's more because of the sheer volume of shady companies selling out-and-out Chinesium chips that have far worse quality control issues.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?

My 10-day* quarantine has ended! First thing I did outside was cycle around the campus. Damn, it feels good to be able to go outside again.

*It's 8 full days and 2 half-days, so it's technically 9 days, but I'm not complaining.

Chip’s Challenge, an old puzzle game in which the objective was to collect computer chips and leave the level.

Pictured are the eponymous Chip; a helper marker which would likely explain the mechanics of the level or give a hint when stepped on; the flippers, which would allow Chip to cross water safely.
