I am happy with my housing corporation.
Over the past 4 years, they have replaced all double glass windows with triple layer high tech plastic, replaced all wooden window frames with high tech plastic ones, replaced all doors to the outside with 2cm thicker, high-insulation doors, placed 8 solar panels on my roof and I get to keep their yield, and finally, last spring they applied cavity wall insulation to all exterior walls.

This all without any costs for me, and without raising the rent beyond the standard yearly raise (which is limited by law for social housing).
The energy label for my house (which was built in 1942) raised from lousy F to a very decent B.

According to a semi-recent law, housing corporations have to improve the energy label of all their social housing property to C. So it's not pure altruism from my landlord.  But they did go beyond what was needed to comply with the new law.  Class B instead of C. Job well done for such an old factory laborer family house (Half of Eindhoven was built to house factory workers by Philips and by DAF).

I just got my yearly final settlement bill for gas and electricity.  I get 1100 euros refund.  That's 600 more than last year.  I guess that cavity wall insulation they did last spring really was the cherry on top.

Awesome! If we had winters here half country would die in the first one.

If we had tropical summers we would also die in the first one, no one here has airconditioning haha.
We will in the future though. Global warming is really noticable here. We've seen temperatures the past few years that would have been deemed near statistically impossible in a none too distant past, with the summers of 2018 and 2019 setting a scary precedent of temperatures over 40C (104F), with 2019 adding a near 3-week long heatwave which was also unprecedented.

Haha yeah, dutch has many, many distinct dialects, surprisingly many for such a small country. We even have a second official language, Frysian.
The Limburg dialect is frowned upon by most though, because it's half german   ;D

Oh no! Dutch side is ruined. Must use Frysian instructions.
"Grille"? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!

Standing outside when it's raining men sounds like a good way to get killed, ether by having one fall on top of you or by the pieces that come off of them when they go splat.
Do raining men come from the atmospheric men? Can you measure this with a baromener? Is global warming making skymen too hot?

I'm feeling real happy today. This isn't normal happy, this is "I forgot to take my meds last night and unlocked 100% of my brain" happy. I'm not bipolar or anything, but I'm ready to take control of myself if anything goes horribly awry. Until that happens, though, I'm gonna enjoy myself.
